Apprentice Terminal Operator - Scapa

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Scapa depot for an Apprentice Terminal Operator.

About the role
This is a new role in the business whereby you will learn all aspects of terminal operations including:

  • Duties related to the receipt and shipment of petroleum products via pipeline and trucks
  • Maintenance and accounting in accordance with established company and governmental regulations.
  • Assisted in operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental matters in the temporary absence of the Terminal Manager.
  • Answering and responding to after-hour calls – emergencies
  • Filter changes and all valve alignments (manifolds and tanks) inside the terminal property to ensure the proper handling, storage and integrity of products
  • Using the Terminal Automation Systems to prepare daily inventory reports, terminal stock report, and rack activity report
  • All other aspects of terminal operations

About you
You will have a high school education, excellent communication and pc skills, and a can-do attitude. In this role, you will also be expected to:

  • Undertake physical terminal activities
  • Communicate well with customers and team members
  • Demonstrate mechanical as well as analytical aptitude
  • Have a valid driving licence
  • Undertake technical and classroom training as appropriate to the role

This role is a mix of office-based and physical roles, which means there is never a dull moment working with a highly experienced team. In return, we will put you through appropriate training and qualifications to advance your career in Terminal Operations.

Highland Fuels has been supplying fuel to homes and businesses around Scotland since 1957 and is now an Employee Owned Trust. With 11 depots across the country, we provide home heating oil and fuel for the agricultural, commercial and marine sectors. In addition, we operate 15 retail forecourts from Orkney to Ayrshire. Alongside our comprehensive range of fuels, including HVO, we provide AdBlue, lubricants, tanks and telemetry, fuel cards and EV chargers.
